New year celebration has been so cliche for the past 5 yrs or so. Fireworks display here and there. People flocking to clubs. Roads closed. Traffics brought to a standstill. Reckless driving. Everyone just wanted to be at the right place at that stroke of midnight. Is it all worth the while, one would ask.
Spend millions on a 15min fireworks display - think about it.
Queueing up at clubs even after that magical midnight hour only to get in at 2am - think about it.
Closing roads and inconveniencing thousands of commuters - think about it.
Traffic jams everywhere in town - think people.
Reckless driving leading to accidents just cos wanted to rush to somewhere before midnight - think again.
"chopping" spots as early as 6pm to have the greatest view of the fireworks which will be up only at midnight and for only 15mins at that - think!
But then after all those shit, I was still out in the crowds welcoming the new year. Why? Cos its the year I have been waiting for since 15months back. It'd better be good. 2005 hasn't been kind in many aspects. Hated it. Really wanted it to end. Now that it has ended, I'm breathing in fresher air. Finishing line can be seen. It'll also signal the start of new and better things to come I hope. The future is yours to mould. Its pretty hazy and fuzzy looking but who cares. As long as I get through the finish line in one piece, other things can wait.
I'll credit 2005 for making me mentally stronger. Other than that I'm relieved it has passed. Goodbye '05! Happy new yr to all! May it be filled with more happenings than the previous yrs. Phew~
