Marriage

In recent weeks, this topic seems to be popping up in front of me everywhere I go. Over the last few months, I've been attending a few weddings and all of them involved my family members. From one who is just 23 to another who is 32, I guess tying the knot knows no age limits huh.

Then there were some who have also came to me and said, "You know what? I don't think I want to get married. I don't want to be sucked into that hole." My reply to that was, "Perhaps to some, getting married would make their life more complete. While for others, they just don't wish to follow the norms and live life the best way they know how. Marriage is not everything isn't it?"

Don't marry someone whom you can live with.
Marry someone whom you CAN'T live without.

Yes, that's my MSN nick and NO, Sham is not getting married anytime soon ;) but I thought this quote was very very true. Marrying someone you can live with isn't all that special isn't it? (I think I can live with you, so let's get married). But marrying someone you can't live without, now that makes marriage more worth the while won't it? (No, I can't live without you, marry me please!)

Getting married is a lifelong commitment with no gurantees whatsoever though. The only thing that makes it work is you and you yourself. And marriage is a choice so if you think that you are better off being single and living alone then go ahead, no one is stopping you. Only I suppose you got to bear with the questions like "When are you getting married?" for a few years before your love ones finally do get it. So if marriage is in the pipelines for you, all the best!

Then came the thought. Not married. Friends all happily married with kids. Parents gone. All alone. What now? Are you gonna like go to work, come home and sleep at 10pm? Do that every single day? Man, sickening thought!

So my dear friends, on a final note, marriage is a sacred commitment between you and your other half. BUT wedding, on the other hand can involve your whole family and any tom dick and harry you can find on the streets. Make that decision wisely. Don't do it cos that's the norm. Do it cos you know that's what is right for you.
