The other day, I saw my colleague carrying a white envolope with a logo of SGH on top of it. So me being me, I asked him what it was. He said he went for a full medical checkup and in it were the results of the medical. The doctor told him that he passed with flying colours. I congratulated him and he went like, "You know what? I wished I had some kind of a problem with my body or something."
I looked at him in disbelief and asked him why. He looked up to me and went, "Well if I had something wrong with my body, I would have been more disciplined and give up smoking like totally man. Now that the results came back good, I have no extra motivation to stop me from smoking."
I nodded in silent agreement but it made me wonder about how weird we are. Many a times we tell ourselves not to do something only to regret doing it later. And many a times we know the consequences of something yet we still went ahead doing it cos we just can't stop ourselves from doing so. How we don't know how to treasure the healthy life that we have and only when we are struck down with an illness would it actually wake our senses up. Won't it be a tad too late then?
Of all the people in the world, you had to come by.
