Local Music

In recent weeks or should I say months, if you were to tune in to Power98 or Perfect10, you would have been exposed to music from the likes of Electrico, Great Spy Experiment, Shirlyn Tan, Corrine May, etc.

I’d say this must be the biggest breakthrough for local musicians ever since…never. It was a slow start initially but it has since picked up and more people are becoming more aware of who these local musicians are. Well done and congrats I must say for it has been a long route before hitting where they are right now.

Personally I know of a few talented and promising people who write and sing their own songs and I’ve been supporting them ever since Day 1 (including you M). Amongst them are tonnes of guitarists and a saxophone player. I myself got involved with a band once and I did write 2 songs before. It never made anywhere but hey it was still satisfying to hear someone actually singing something that you wrote and most importantly it was all great fun.

I guess the phrase “No Music, No Life” does speak volumes to a certain extent. So if you’re into music and passionate about it, go for it without neglecting your own life and be realistic. Have faith and I’m pretty sure success will come by sooner or later. But do bear in mind that the local music scene is growing so don’t expect too much. =)
