26 on 26th.

The Birthday post.

Firstly, happy birthday to me!
Secondly, I'm getting old.
Thirdly, I'm happy. :)

I haven't done a random post like this in a long time but I just had to grace the occasion. Yes, it's that time of the year again where I add another candle to the cake. I have turned 26.

Since we're at the topic of aging, the other day, I was talking to my colleague about how risk adverse we got as we grow older and I have to agree wholeheartedly with that statement. When was the last time we did something out of curiosity? When was the last time we went ahead and do something in blind faith, believing that we will come out unscathed? When was the last time we stopped doing a risk assessment in doing something? Anything?

I suppose as one grows older, we just become more conscious of our surroundings and we become less adventurous in doing things which might bring harm or pain to our body and well-being. Either that or it's our sub-conscious which is hitting us, where we just stop on our tracks because it's not something we would normally do (i.e. opting for the safer choice).

Is there a way to reverse this adverse reaction? Answer is, maybe not. As you age, priorities changes and you tend to realise that you care more about the people around you more than you care about yourself. Thus you would always do things with others in mind first before your own. And this applies to me as well (not that it's a bad thing, really). Just got to learn to well, live with it.

So the wish this birthday? World peace (duh!), and hope that what's left of the year remains kind to me. The later part of 2010 has been good and I hope it stays that way. 26 WILL be a game changer of some sorts so we'll see how things turn out from here. Thank you for the well-wishes so far, feeling all the loves and appreciating them. Keep them coming! :D
