Just got back from my grandaunt's funeral. Come to think of it, that's like the 5th death that I'd come to know of in less than 2 weeks. One news after another and I do wonder if it'll ever stop.
But in any case, my grandaunt was truly a pure breed peranakan woman, petite, and speaks and dresses in true peranakan fashion. I'd say she lived to a ripe old age of 93 and what more could a person ask for than to leave this world without any major illnesses of any sorts. She most definitely lived a very fulfilling life, strong til the very last moment. At that kinda age, she could still recognise who I was when I came over her place during CNY, considering we only dropped by her place about twice sometimes even once a yr. Hospitable in her own ways, she never fails to keep asking us to eat whenever we came over her place, even if it was something light like nonya kuehs which she used to make for the new year. Up til her death, her last request to her family was that, "Be it how many days my wake would be, prepare food and feed everyone who comes. Make sure no one is left out."
That, moved me.
And so you've moved on. Time for you to have an everlasting rest, away from the troubles and turbulence of the world. Life for us here, goes on. Again, we should appreciate and celebrate life. Don't let worldy things bog us down most of the time. Enjoy and let loose cos the beauty of life, is indeed life itself.
On a side note, the crematorium is damn nice and super high-tech can. The route for the visitors is being planned out so nicely that you won't come back to the same hall again twice. And its route out in such a way that you won't clash with another service who is there for the same purpose as well. Smart I say.
Now back to the realities of things. No more public holidays all the way til August. Hopefully by then, my life would be easier. Finishing army and not knowing what to do. I'm still thinking. Even backup plans don't come easy. Will need to weigh everything out and head on back to the drawing board. Damn.
