Back to the days where I was on greener pastures (literally), I was part of the backroom engine and also the first line of defense covering the management from any oncoming “bullets”. A post many dread taking but me embracing it with open arms at the opportunity of the challenge. Well at least 50% of me was and the other 50% was more or less left cursing.
Yearly or half-yearly the company will come under the scrutiny of an inspection team to access how good or bad the standard of operations are and everytime they are scheduled to come, we’d slog like crazy to make everything look almost perfect. Preparing ourselves for the onslaught and also covering up for mistakes in documentation and stuffs like that. Recently, I saw the same situation happening again (only not as bad) but at a different location.
I’m not saying that it’s bad because with pressure and stress, it does somehow make us work and produce better and optimal results for a particular task, even if it means covering up for loopholes. But it all just seems too fake.
The world is a façade where everyone is trying to impress one another. At the end of the day, everything good is fake and bad things are made to look good.
Does being natural and taking it easy not bring you far? We hate liars but we live in a pack of them. A highly hypocritical place we call home.
