The other night I scheduled dinner with an old friend of mine. Didn't realised this till midway through the meet that we haven't met each other for about a year plus, apart from occassional run-ins here and there.
I find it quite interesting that we still feel comfortable being in each other's company despite not being in much contact during the previous year. We don't even have each other's MSN contact all this while but yet still find things to talk about.
Which brings me to another point, I realised that I have some contacts who don't make much difference to my life having them on my list or not and also some who matter but rarely talk to. Old friends who don't communicate anymore are aplenty. I remember talking to them till the wee hours of the day daily but they have since been reduced to a mere "Contact" in the list.
Times change, people change.
One moment we can talk about everything in the universe with someone but the next moment somehow we just drift apart. MSN or any online chatting tool for that matter gives us the ability to talk to strangers comfortably, like we know them all our lives, but it also allows us to just dump friends quite as easily as we acquire them. I do hope to rekindle connection with these people someday, somehow. Things would be different, but at one moment in time we know that we were both on the same page.
