Childhood dreams

Was talking to a friend of mine the other day and one of the topics we talked about was, "What did you want to be when you were small?"

It didn't occur to me until then that I had a few aspirations and dreams when I was small. The first real dream I had was that I wanted to be an architect. Why architect? Simple. It was because everyone wanted to be lawyers and doctors but I wanted something of that stature, only with a difference. I held on to that dream for some time but I never really knew what it takes to be one and personally I thought it was far-fetched so I gave that up when I came across another dream.

The next thing I thought I could become was a historian working in a museum or something. I was and have always been very into history. Reading history books have never been an issue, memorizing the facts was. I was always intrigue at how something happened and what happened then but after confusing all the dates of events that happened during world war 2, I knew then that this wasn't going to work out either.

And then came Wong Li Lin and Triple Nine. I fell for her good looks; I also fell in love with the job. This was one dream that almost came true. But after a single rejection letter and 2 years of national service later, I knew I would have cursed and swear if I did got in.

Which brings us here to where I am now. A humble business analyst supporting a bunch of consultants bringing thought leadership to the companies we're servicing in hope of leveraging on what's what in the market right now. Is this my dream? Well hardly so.

My real dream now is to simply help people. That I’m doing, with small baby steps into the unknown. On whether I’ll reach that goal of mine? Well maybe someday. I'm always hopeful.

So, what did you want to be when you were small? :)
